Bountiful ESA Letters and Psychiatric Service Dog Letters
Bountiful climbs the slopes of the Wasatch Range and counted 45,762 residents at the 2020 census, making it one of Davis County's oldest and largest cities. A free screening, reviewed by a Utah-licensed clinician, is how a support animal letter starts if your animal helps with anxiety, depression or another condition.
Davis County Household Pet Limit
Three animals per household in every Davis County city since 2023; a special permit can license a fourth.
Utah's Second Settlement
Perrigrine Sessions and his family settled here on September 27, 1847, two months after the first pioneers reached the Salt Lake Valley, making it Utah's second settlement. Known first as Sessions Settlement and then North Canyon Ward, it took the name Bountiful in 1855 for its gardens and for a city in the Book of Mormon.

Bountiful Questions on Recipe Cards
Who licenses dogs in Bountiful?
Animal Care of Davis County, as in every Davis County city. All dogs over four months old need a county license and proof of a current rabies vaccination.
How much is a Davis County dog license for a Bountiful dog?
$15 for one year or $40 for three years if the dog is sterilized and microchipped, and $40 for one year otherwise. Owners 60 or older can get a $25 lifetime license for a sterilized, microchipped dog.
How many pets can a Bountiful household keep?
Three. Davis County set the same three-animal household limit for every city in 2023, and a special permit can license a fourth pet.
What does the Davis County fourth-pet permit require?
An annual, non-refundable fee; contact information for the owner of each pet; identification of each pet; proof of each pet's spay or neuter status, microchip number and valid county license; and, if the fourth animal is a fourth dog, a depiction of the fencing, kennels and dog runs.
Are dogs allowed in Bountiful parks?
Yes, on a leash only, in every Bountiful City park except Bountiful Town Square. The city also runs an off-leash dog park called the Bark Park, and the Parks Department number is 801.298.6178.
Do Bountiful landlords have to allow emotional support animals?
Utah Code 26B-6-803 bars a private housing owner from discriminating over a support animal or charging an extra fee or deposit for one, and Utah defines a support animal by federal reasonable accommodation rules. HUD stopped enforcing untrained-ESA housing claims in May 2026, so outcomes now vary from one landlord to the next.
