A Fort Site on the Logan River

Logan was founded in 1859 by settlers Brigham Young sent to survey a fort site near the banks of the Logan River, and they named it for Ephraim Logan, an early fur trapper. The town incorporated on January 17, 1866. Brigham Young College opened in 1877 and closed in 1926, while the Agricultural College of Utah, founded in 1888, became Utah State University.

Why Logan Tenants Look for a Utah-Licensed Clinician

A Utah license

The clinician who decides your Logan request is licensed to practice in Utah.

No misrepresentation

Utah law makes it a misdemeanor to mislead a provider to get support animal documentation.

The federal standard

Utah uses federal accommodation law to decide what a support animal is.

Logan Questions in Six Slides

Slide 1 of 6

Do dogs need to be registered in Logan?

Yes. Every dog over four months old must be registered with Logan City Animal Control, to an owner who is 18 or older.

Slide 2 of 6

How much is a Logan dog license?

$25 for an intact dog and $10 for a spayed or neutered dog. A replacement license is $3 if the original is lost.

Slide 3 of 6

When is my Logan dog registration due for renewal?

Every year, on the last day of the month in which the license was bought.

Slide 4 of 6

Can I renew a Logan dog license by email?

Yes. Email doglicense@loganutah.gov with the owner's name, a phone number and proof of rabies vaccination, and a records clerk will call for payment.

Slide 5 of 6

Where are stray dogs taken in Logan?

Dogs picked up by Logan City Animal Control are held at Cache County Sheriff Animal Services.

Slide 6 of 6

Is a Logan landlord allowed to charge pet rent for a support animal?

Utah Code 26B-6-803 says a private housing owner may not charge an extra fee or deposit because of a service or support animal, but the owner may recover a reasonable cost of repairing damage. Because Utah relies on federal accommodation law to define support animals, HUD's May 2026 decision to stop pursuing untrained-ESA cases means less federal backing for these requests.
