Beck's Hot Springs to a Lakeshore City

Natural hot springs near the source of the Jordan River inspired Beck's Saratoga Springs, a resort named after the New York original and its owner, John Beck, that opened in 1884. In the early 1990s landowners began planning development around the springs and the nearby Lake Mountains foothills, and the city incorporated in December 1997. It stretches from Pelican Point on the west side of Utah Lake more than eleven miles north to Camp Williams.

Questions Rippling Out of Saratoga Springs

How many dogs and cats can I keep in Saratoga Springs?

No more than three dogs and three cats, each four months or older, at any residential lot or commercial establishment.

When does a new dog need a Saratoga Springs license?

Within thirty days after the dog reaches four months, or within ten days of getting a dog that is already over four months old.

Where do I register my dog in Saratoga Springs?

Online through the North Utah Valley Animal Shelter website, or in person at the city offices.

What does a Saratoga Springs dog license cost?

Between $15 and $95, depending on how many years you buy, up to three, and whether the dog is spayed or neutered.

What do I need to bring to license my dog?

Documentation that the dog's rabies vaccination is current, and proof of spay or neuter if it applies.

Can a Saratoga Springs landlord add a deposit for my support animal?

Utah Code 26B-6-803 forbids private housing owners from charging an extra fee or deposit tied to a service or support animal, though they can recover a reasonable cost for damage. Support animal status in Utah follows federal accommodation law, and HUD has pulled back from untrained-ESA cases since May 2026, so federal protection is thinner than it was.
