The Shoshone called this place Opecarry, "stick in the head." Cattle ranchers from Ogden wintered here in 1850, and Jonathan Campbell came back with other families in 1851 to stay. Sugar beets, a canning plant and fruit orchards followed, and the North Ogden Fruit Exchange of 1924 became the region's first fruit cooperative, shipping by rail. The city incorporated on February 1, 1934.
