Boca's one beach for dogs sits between lifeguard towers 18 and 20, and the city now opens it seven days a week to permit holders.
- Each dog needs its own Bark Beach permit, carried by the handler.
- No more than two dogs per person.
- Leash on entering and leaving; off-leash only inside the dog area during set hours.
- An ESA letter does not replace the permit; beach rules treat a support dog as a pet.

What Boca Residents Ask Us
My therapist is in New York. Will a Boca Raton landlord accept their letter?
Only if Florida's rules are met. A clinician licensed only in another state counts if they have seen you in person at least once or are registered to provide telehealth to Florida patients. Otherwise a Florida-licensed clinician is the safer route.
Do Boca Raton pets need a county tag?
Yes. Palm Beach County requires dogs and cats four months and older to have a current rabies vaccination and a county license tag, renewed every year.
I just moved to Boca. How long do I have to get the tag?
Palm Beach County asks for a license within 30 days of moving into the county or acquiring a pet. Many veterinary clinics sell the county tag.
Can my dog go to the beach in Boca Raton?
Only at Bark Beach in Spanish River Park, between lifeguard towers 18 and 20, and only with a Bark Beach permit for each dog. The city allows up to two dogs per person.
Does an ESA letter work for a West Boca address outside city limits?
Yes. The letter supports a housing request anywhere in Florida. Many West Boca homes are in unincorporated Palm Beach County, where county rules apply.
