The name dates to 1944, when the school district here stretched from shore to shore, Puget Sound to Lake Washington, and from line to line, the old Seattle limit at 85th Street to the county line. The city itself only incorporated in 1995, and the 2020 census counted 58,608 residents.

Who licenses pets in Shoreline?
Shoreline contracts with Regional Animal Services of King County. Dogs and cats need a county license from eight weeks old, costing $30 a year if spayed or neutered and $60 if not.
Can my emotional support animal ride Link light rail from Shoreline?
Sound Transit allows service animals on Link. Other animals, emotional support animals included, travel in a closed carrier under the current rules, although the board has discussed allowing leashed dogs.
How do King County Metro buses handle animals?
Service animals ride free, and a small dog held on your lap rides free too. A larger dog pays a fare, and other animals need a carrier.
When did light rail reach Shoreline?
Shoreline South/148th and Shoreline North/185th stations opened on August 30, 2024, near Interstate 5, and both are served by the 1 Line and 2 Line.
Does my condo association have to consider my request?
Yes. Condominium and homeowner associations count as housing providers for accommodation requests, so give the board your request and letter in writing.
What is the fine for an unlicensed pet in Shoreline?
