Logging Town to Biotech Corridor
David Bothell and his family platted the town in 1888, just before the railroads came, and it incorporated in 1909 on logging and farming. By the mid-20th century it was a commuter town, and the 1992 Canyon Park annexation carried the city into Snohomish County. Biotech and tech firms now line North Creek.

Does Bothell use the King County pet license?
No. Bothell runs its own pet licensing through PetData. Dogs and cats need a city license from eight weeks old.
How much is a Bothell pet license?
It is $30 a year for a spayed or neutered dog or cat and $60 for an unaltered one. Owners 65 and older with an altered pet can buy a $15 lifetime license, and a juvenile license covers pets from four weeks to six months.
My home is on the Snohomish County side. Is the license different?
No. The City of Bothell license applies everywhere inside city limits, on both sides of the county line.
Why do Bothell street numbers change at the county line?
King and Snohomish counties use different street grids. The line runs along NE 205th Street, which is the same road as 244th Street SW, so a north-south street can change numbers when it crosses.
Can a UW Bothell or Cascadia student use the letter for campus housing?
Campus housing has its own accommodation process, usually run by the disability services office. Ask the office which documents it needs; a letter from a licensed clinician is often part of it.
Do I need proof of rabies vaccination to license my pet?
Yes. Bothell requires proof of a current rabies vaccination before it issues a license.
