Houses From a Department Store Catalog
Developer Herbert Sadkin first planned to call his project Sunnydale. Lauderhill began with off-the-shelf homes by architect Andrew Geller, designs once shown to the public at Macy's, after about 200 of them were built in Montauk, New York, in 1963 and 1964.
The name: William Safire said Sunnydale sounded like Brooklyn. When Sadkin pointed out there were no hills, Safire answered that there were probably no dales in Lauderdale either.

Lauderhill Questions, Over by Over
Does my Lauderhill cat need a Broward County tag?
Yes. Broward County's animal ordinance requires all dogs and cats to wear an official Broward County Rabies Tag. Ferrets are not required to wear one.
My pet never goes outside. Does it still need the tag?
Yes. Indoor pets are not exempt, because open doors, torn screens or storms can still let a pet escape, and the tag shows at a glance that it has an owner.
What is the fine for skipping the Broward tag?
Broward County lists a $600 fine for dogs and cats that are not vaccinated against rabies and registered with the county.
What do Broward County wellness clinics charge?
The required registration tag is $25 for a microchipped pet and $55 for one without a chip, while the rabies vaccine, DAPP, FVRCP and microchip are listed as free. Clinics take debit or credit cards only, and pre-registration is required.
How often does a Broward pet need a rabies shot?
Chapter 4, Section 4-10 of the county ordinance calls for a rabies vaccination every year, or every three years when a three-year vaccine is given, for dogs and cats four months or older.
Can a Lauderhill landlord refuse me only because I skipped its usual process?
No. Florida Statute 760.27 does not allow a housing provider to deny a request solely because the person did not follow the provider's routine method for making it.
